Notes:
The heat wave is here--without the excessive humidity-yet. It was 89 when I ran today--but it while it felt like running in a sauna or breathing fire (in), it was MUCH more comfortable than Sunday's brutally tough run. The diference, Sunday's dew point was a dangerously high 79, today the dew point was 61.
So, there's not much of an excuse for my only barely fair-to-poor workout. My legs were just dead. did everything I could to will them and me to faster paces during the over/under section and the 30/30 section, I just couldn't find enough will or enough strength. I even cut the overall workout short by a couple of minutes. I'm not sure what's going on, just glad to somewhat of an off-day tomorrow to try to recoup. I was defintiely the AOM (Achy Old Man) today. Everything that's ever hurt, hurt today. Before, during and after the run! Both knees, both achilles tendons (especially the left one), hamstring, shoulder-you name it, it hurt! I didn't start feeling better until late this evening--after spending a wonderful hour on the beach and in the ocean with Avery--and going out for dinner, Planet Smoothies..etc..(I was just too wiped out to think about cooking!). Now, finally, sitting in front of the computer, I feel halfway human! Don't know what this means for the race Saturday--my confidence is not quite what it was priro to the Blueberry 5k. Of course the forecast heat indeax for Sturday is 106! So a super fast time might not happen regardless--unless the the dew point stays very low.
I am trying to take all of this in stride--remembering that my fitness is still there, speed too. I just need to completely acclimate to the heat.
