Hello,
I am looking for the perfect website where I can share my workouts and runningfreeonline is the best so far according to my criteria.
But it's still not perfect... Apart from the look and feel (we all agree on that probably Tongue ), I saw some nice features on other websites that could probably be integrated in RFOL :

1. Personal bests computed on gps data. Personal bests on 1km/1mi/2km/5km/10km/Marathon... by year/month/week and see the evolution over time of your personal bests for each distance. Such a feature exist on Endomondo. However on Endomondo, the difference of altitude is not taken into account. So for example my personal best on 5km is 18' but it has been done on a downhill road (which is not fair!!)
Another website, Strava is taking into account this difference of altitude and does not allow more than x% downhill. You can also click on your personal bests and see directly on which part of your track you did this personal best.

2. Segment feature. A great feature available also on Strava is the ability to define segments (such as the Mont Ventoux climb from Bédoin for example http://app.strava.com/segments/690380) and compare your personal best on that segment to the personal best of the other people of the website. You can also follow of course your progress on each segment. This feature is really great, but it would probably take a while to implement it on RFOL... (and data storage might explode)

@Hollywoof : have you ever thought of those features ?

Hi Aonikenk

Sorry for the delay in answering.

In short... yes I've thought and discussed both those features. I've always liked the idea of doing automated "king of the mountain" type system like Strava have adopted and I think the way forwards is possible.

Recently, however, I've got to admit I haven't had anywhere near as much time on the site as I wanted - so there haven't been a lot of new toys made....

Next up for me is to tackle the site's look and feel - time to head back to runsat I think and time also to really try to make sure the site is mobile friendly - I seem to be spending more and more time on my mobile.

One thing I am disappointed about.... is that I have been talking for far too long to a few people about trying to set up a standard for sites - a common data API that would make it easy for sites to exchange data... sadly this just doesn't seem to be getting off the ground :/

I hope that helps to answer your question a little bit... sorry again for the delay

Stuart
