Not quite Yorkshire... but if I was cycling then I'd head for the Grindleford Station Cafe (just over the border from Sheffield - take your passport!) Grindleford is quite close to the route ive uploaded Stuart. And its a road route too. It goes to Eyam turning off the B6001 almost touching Grindleford. It proves there is more than you expect. Never knew there was a cafe and Grindleford Station

It's just not often cold, grey, damp and miserable I must agree you made the right choice Philip moving to New Zealand. I can only imagine what it must be like living over there especially with it being 30c. Hope your training goes well.

shaggy wrote:Good places to cycle soom of my rides in the summer, The ride from Kettlewell to Hawes over Fleet Moss is fantastic then back to Horton in Ribblesdale over the incredibly steep Coal Road.
Sunday ride won't be far from those places, country roads around Skipton, Malham and Gargrave. Most of my rides are in the Yorkshire Dales which is a fantastic place to ride (but not in the winter Philip). Have you tried this ride before: http://www.aukweb.net/cal/calsolo.php?Ride=10-287Round the Pateley Bridge Area. This one was 200k. Oh yea enjoy your ride on Sunday.

Made it outdoors for 30 miles today - actually it was HOT! Shame about the wind though...

Hmmm NO!
It was about -20c here the other day, I've been getting to know my turbo trainer over the past while :) but I'm still in prep period so it's all good right now.
Running in the snow however isn't so bad, you'd be amazed how warm it gets with a running jacket and tights.
My first sprint tri is in March, but things should clear up before then.

Wanna go Saturday, but the forecast is about -5 to -1 degrees Celsius. So that can be slippery...

I'll be doing one of the maps I made recently, called 100k ride in Derbyshire, soon in preparation for it becoming an audax. Some superb scenery and a fair bit of climbing. Would like to have a go at the Ron Kitching challenge ride at this web address on the 150k option: http://www.ctcchallengerides.co.uk/

I'm thinking about cycling to Reading and back on Saturday - about 35 miles each way... but the temperature thing is scaring me off currently - looks like its train and beer...

First ride outdoors of the year was on New Years Day, and I think I've been riding outdoors every week since.
Last CX race of the season last week, tomorrow will be a recce of my clubs short reliability ride route (44 mile route, will probably end up doing 60), ahead of the ride proper in two weeks time when I'll be doing the long course.

Well done hammerite - I think most it's been pretty easy. Today would have a real good day to go cycling - but I spent the whole day swearing at DIY plumbing. Hoping for a warm February to get back in the saddle!
