Hi!

As a frequent contributor to OpenStreetMap I love RunSaturday (since the map is included).

However, when you link to an activity you often choose the map view, but that link shows Google maps by default. Many users don't know about other maps or notice the buttons to switch.

I'd like to see a paramter in the url for the map to use.

Thanks!

ps. Compare my run today with OSM.

I'll think about it...

I guess I could make OSM or OCM default for everyone?

What do people think?

P.S. Your speed intervals in the car park are excellent ThumbsUp

My personal preference would be to keep Google maps as the default as they have better coverage around these parts (it's pretty good in the urban areas, but it gets pretty thin as you get into the rural parts). I've been updating OSM where I can, but cycling takes me into a pretty wide area where I don't know all of the details of the minor roads (many of which aren't paved so I can't really explore) that I ride past.

With that said, offering a GET option in the map URL to specify the display mode would be potentially very useful. OSM allows a lot more detail on foot paths, which could be useful in some cases (especially for running) as I don't go as far afield when on foot (and hence stay within the zone that I've helped to flesh out).

I agree with tms, the coverage of google is better. So keep that as default and if people want or need, let them choose for something different.

I also think Google has best coverage on most parts. One can always select another one if he/she would like to.
Maybe (in future) one could set it up in the profile section.
