A few of you seem to be logging some miles here...

So I just thought I'd ask... if anyone was aiming at 26.2 or longer this spring?

Me? I'm doing London marathon again - 26th April - 4th FLM for me - but first time I've been lucky enough to get a club place :)

It'll definitely be last FLM - but I might do a VLM one day.

yo

I'm also in for FLM 09 (3rd time and 3rd rejection).

What's VLM?

The thing I've found about the London ballot... is that you only ever get in if you really don't want to!

But beyond that... is this a first marathon? Have you got any particular goals/aims?

I'm struggling a bit with motivation for it... I'm sure my mojo will pick up as the weather continues to get warmer. Shame it'll probably get wetter too :(

Not marathon training but ultra training.

Draycote Water 35.

I've heard good things about Draycote - I'm kind of tempted to join you. I'm also working on persuading my better half (Shiraz) to come and play at Compton 40 - I did it last year and it was bizarrely fun (the course was marked with flour which didn't work so well in the snow!) - but this year it is only 2 weeks before FLM... so she might not join me.

In case any marathon runners are reading this and think that talk of ultras sounds crazy: don't worry, you'll learn ;)

You get worried when a marathon is just a warm down after a bit of a swim and cycle.

I am doing my first ultra 39.3 miles in a couple of months time, suppose I better start training.

Hi All

I'm training for my first London Marathon and I have to say this is really hard work!! I’ve done half’s before, but this is a different level. Thankfully I’ve now got a training partner and I think this really helps with the Motivation! I’ve just completed my longest run ever at 14 Miles!!!

One problem I’m finding at the moment is that I can’t keep my hands worm. I’ve got a pair of running gloves from the sweatshop (Gore Gloves), but this doesn’t seem to help, any ideas?

Oh, just a tip on Hydration/ Carb drinks I’ve been using the Goodness Shakes. They taste nice (Choc Malt) and are really helping me keep my weight at a set level.

I'm in week 9 of a 12 week training plan for the Austin marathon in Texas on February 15.

I'm running the San Francisco half on Februar1 1 as my last long run before a two week taper.

I'm registered for the Loch Ness marathon in October - it's my first one, so I'm more than a little nervous. It's a way off now, but I'm not really sure how long before it I should start 'marathon training' in earnest - any tips?
