Not sure - really not sure what they've released...

Is anyone using G+ much? How is it?

Kinda like myspace was. I like google+ and use other features of google quite a bit. Hope that it will grow and more of my family will migrate or add on to it.

A good point made by the PC Pro chaps on a recent podcast:

Facebook took off in the manner it did, because we all realised that we could reconnect with friends and family, some of whom we'd lost contact with for many years. I know I've caught up with a lot of former close friends through Facebook, and it's been great to speak to them again (and many of them, still do). The problem with G+ is that I've already caught up with near enough everyone I'd lost touch with. Building up my contacts through G+ will just be replicating those lists of friends (Facebook), business contacts (LinkedIn), and slebs (Twitter) that I can already engage with on other sites.

Why should I bother with G+ when it just duplicates what I already have?

If that's the situation for me, where is the impetus for the masses of people already on Facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter to migrate?

Despite the "don't be evil" tag line I fundamentally have a problem with Google's customer service.

This summer I had a problem - no idea what it was - but my Google account got suspended. I knew about this because when I tried to login to email or to view my google docs, it said that the account did not exist, when I tried to view my blogger blogs it said 404, when I went to youtube it said no, when I tried to view Google Analytics it said "account suspended". I was worried about this... not least because if I lost email and docs, then I lost a lot of things I need :/

I tried to find a way to contact Google... there was no way.

I contacted gmail support and they said they couldn't help as my account was disabled - and told me to go back to the gmail support webpages - which are particularly unhelpful. All the help pages are useless and end up pointing to forums where Google fans sometimes try to help... but there's no real G presence.

The good news is that 48 hours later my account magically reappeared - phew. And I now *backup everything* - I know that Google could suspend my account without giving me any warning or any reason...

Now I'm sure Google have very good reasons for suspending accounts - I'm sure they get 1000s of hack attempts every hour. But surely they could give some feedback/support to the user? Basically, they are optimised to provide absolutely minimal customer support. And we - the users - are not the customers. It's the advertisers who are the customers... so Google offer us no service at all :(

Gosh - what a soapbox... in better news, its been very sunny today (29C) and I cycled for almost 5 hours :) I am very slow... but happy :)

G+ typically caters to the analytically inclined. As such, it may attract the tri geeks logging in all their training.
