We're always looking for new food ideas to include in the diet. We came across this book recently: http://www.amazon.com/Raw-Food-Made-Easy-People/dp/1570671753Some great ideas for different foods. AS a couple who like a nice bloody steak and fresh crusty bread, we are not too fussed what we eat. But we do like variety and simplicity. During the week when time is limited, cooking takes too long. The ideas in this book provide some really quick healthy alternatives.

Hi Phillip, glad to hear you are thinking introducing raw food into your diet. I am sure you will reap the benefits of it. I swear by the raw food diet since I have been a raw vegan for 10 years now and have been running on raw food for that time too it just gives me so much energy and I recover much quicker from my training. like you said cooking can take too long, especially after coming in from a training session. A quick blend of a raw green smoothie works wonders for recovery and its simple, easy and quick. all the best for experienting with some raw food recipes cheers Jane

I personally stick to mostly green leafy veggies, lots of fruit, lots of nuts throughout the day. I've been experimenting with Tofu lately. However, I can't really call myself a true vegetarian, I still enjoy a good piece of fish and on occasion a good piece of grilled meat. My main source of protein is still animal based.
I have a good recipie that includes kale (lightly steamed), corn kernels, roasted beets. I might post it on here, it looks like a few people could be interested.
On a side note, two days ago I had a schnitzel sandwich (on white bread) with some friends, a minute later I turned 5 shades of green, I thought the food was going to come back up. I just can't do fried food anymore, or stuff with alot of fat. I have a mental list of stuff I've sworn off.
I think once our bodies are programmed to eat certain foods, all the other bad stuff becomes incompatible.
PS: Do any vegan/vegetarian folks on here have a good recipe or marinade for tofu? I love the stuff in wraps.

That was dinner tonight, took about 10 mins to put together, start grilling the tofu and sweet potatoes before you start cutting up the veggies. The dressing is from a large batch made the day before (olive oil, toasted sesame oil, lemon, orange juice, chopped garlic and ginger. Should last a while in the fridge, take it out when you start cooking so the oils go back to liquid form.) Edit: cheap if you break it into meals, the most expensive item in the pic is the avocado and I only eat half per meal. Most expensive investment is the toasted sesame oil, but it lasts because it is so strong.
