Can we make our way around the M25 London Orbital in only 24 hours? Don't worry - we're running, not driving!
NEWS:
10:30 GMT: nzc puts in a wet, windy, but warm 14 miles to get us started, followed by BeerMatt and Jacobi and a steady 7½ and 7 miles respectively. Before you know it, we're past that tricky M26 junction, and having breakfast at Clacket Lane services.
11:15 GMT: A sneaky weekend track session from ronsrace moves us forward a few more miles. That's junction 8, and we're past the highest point on the course!
11: 20 GMT: Late entrant brymills has taken us past junction 9, and we're ONE THIRD of our way round!
11:30 GMT: Good news! Southwales22 is back from her effort, but will log it here after she's done some proper exercise. Mountain rescue and the Sea King helicopter have been stood down.
12:00 Noon, Greenwich Mean Time (and the mid-point of our "buy-one-get-one-free" 24 hour challenge), and there's still plenty more to do. However, as the sun sets in the Far East, it rises on the East Coast of North America, and BIG Run Saturday dawns on another continent...
12:30 GMT: a quick off-road jog past Juction 10, and at the Royal Horticultural Society's gardens at Wisley (nice cake there), Hanneke hands the baton over to the next runner Kinsey, who takes us to Junction 11 at Chertsey.
14:15 GMT: The errant wanderer returns, as southwales22 picks up the baton and ploughs past Heathrow Airport and onwards towards Junction 16 and the M4. We're over half way, and over 100km!
14:20 GMT: More late signings, hammerite and marathoncat, send us past Junction 18, to the M1 junction and we're suddenly TWO-THIRDS round!
14:50 GMT: More miles from Maty, who takes us ever-closer to our goal, and for tea (and cake) at South Mimms services at the A1(M) junction.
15:30 GMT: 12 early morning miles from rolfe takes us to Junction 26, and Waltham Abbey. Nearly there now!
15:50 GMT: More morning miles from JPFrog2, and we're past the M11, and we're over 90% round!
15:55 GMT: And we're home! Sticky1 and IronTractorBoy fly round the last few miles to get us back to the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge! Congratulations!
BIG thank you and congratulations to the following contributors who helped to get us round:
BIG thank you too, to the rest of Team Run Saturday who didn't log their miles until after the challenge had been completed:
Keep an eye out here for other challenges on Run Saturday.
