All I could fit in tonight, but I really wanted to do a short one as I have no chance of running tomorrow. So rest it is.

Left work an hour early to make up for a lot of overtime and actually relax for a bit. Just after getting home I got a phone call from colleague J notifying me of some trouble brewing due to sheer incompetence/unwillingness to listen/bad planning/bad luck (take your pick) elsewhere in the organisation. Since it impacted me and a couple of very senior outside executives I couldn't let the thing slide and crash, so I spent the next three hours trying to repair things. I got done as much as I could today by 8pm, so I decided to get rid of some anger by doing a 5k. Realised by 3k that 5k wasn't going to do it, and extended to 10. Feel a bit better now :)

About 2k warm-up, then 2k at 10k RP around the fishpond. Target 4min/km, hit 4:02 and 3:59 which is close enough for an idle Monday. 2k of hobbling home. Good start to the week!

Very relaxing day. Spent most of it lazing in the sun reading. After a great meal I was happy to see Henning hit sub-3 in his marathon today. Well done my friend! I had planned to go for a post-dinner run, but that's about as far as the planning went. Set off, and just wandered a bit, decided to go for a HM about 5k in. Totally relaxed in the setting sun. Somehow hit a 2 minute negative split along the way. Great end to a great weekend. I think it deserves to be toasted on with a nice glass of white.

Due to Memorial Day activities for A we had an early dinner, and I was just able to squeeze in a short one right after before she had to leave (luckily I can usually run with a full belly with no problems). Decided to do six laps around the block (900m, about as close to a "track workout" as I can get here) and see whether I was up to making it progressive laps. 5.5km in total, splits: 4:21, 4:18, 4:10, 4:03, 3:55, and 3:33 on the last 560m. Very pleased with that, especially in light of yesterday's meh-run.
